Breathing monitor:

Guardian angel of newborns

Nepretržite sleduje dýchacie pohyby dieťaťa

Continuously monitors the baby’s breathing movements

Zariadenie spúšťa alarm, ak sa dychový pohyb zastaví na viac ako 20 sekúnd, alebo ak dychová frekvencia poklesne pod 10 nádychov za minútu.

The device triggers an alarm if breathing stops for more than 20 seconds or if the breathing rate drops below 10 breaths per minute.

Umožňuje rýchlu reakciu na prípadné nebezpečenstvo a svojím alarmom dieťa často prebudí a doslova ho privedie späť k životu

It allows a quick response to potential danger and, with its alarm, often wakes the baby and literally brings them back to life.

Certifikované a v autorizovanom servise pravidelne kontrolované monitory dychu Babysense sú zárukou najvyššej kvality a maximálnej spoľahlivosti

Certified and regularly inspected at an authorized service, Babysense breathing monitors guarantee the highest quality and maximum reliability.

How does it work?

Using the breathing monitor is very simple!
Breathing monitors consist of several main components:

 1. Sensor pads: These pads are placed on the crib slats, under the baby’s mattress. They are never in direct contact with the baby and do not restrict their movement in any way. They can detect even the tiniest movements the baby makes while breathing.
 2. Control unit: This unit is connected to the sensor pads and continuously analyzes data on your baby’s breathing movements. The connecting cable linking the sensor pads to the control unit is always secured to the crib railing, eliminating any risk of the baby being strangled.
 3. Alarm: If the monitor does not detect the baby’s breathing movements for more than 20 seconds, or if the breathing rate falls below 10 breaths per minute, a loud alarm sounds to alert you to a potential problem.

Breathing monitors are sensitive devices with a limited lifespan, so regular maintenance is essential to ensure proper functionality.

After placing the baby in the crib, simply turn on the device. The green light confirms each breath. In the event of breathing cessation or irregular breathing, a warning signal sounds and the red light starts flashing. After removing the baby from the crib, remember to turn off the device, otherwise the alarm will activate.

Our goal is to ensure the availability of breathing monitors in all Slovak hospitals and maternity wards. We offer parents the option to rent monitors for home use for the necessary period through our rental locations.

 • The manufacturer of the breathing monitors is the Israeli company Hisense, Ltd. (Certified according to ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 13485:2003).

Rental locations

To help mothers and fathers of newborns sleep peacefully at home—after experiencing this reassurance in the hospital, where their baby’s breathing was monitored—we help establish and operate rental locations at hospital departments and Dr. Max pharmacies. Breathing monitors are rented for the necessary duration of the infant’s at-risk period.

This activity involves the most administrative and organizational work, which is why we work closely with selected staff in hospitals and Dr. Max pharmacies.

Currently, there are more than 70 rental locations in hospitals and Dr. Max pharmacies in Slovakia. Since 2008, we have rented out over 25,000 breathing monitors through these rental locations.

Rental procedure

1.
CHOOSE A RENTAL LOCATION

The Crossroads Foundation rents Babysense breathing monitors as part of the “Mommy, I’m Breathing” project across Slovakia, in cooperation with contracted hospitals and selected Dr. Max pharmacies. Babysense breathing monitors are also available for home use. A list of hospitals and pharmacies participating in the project can be found on our map.

2.
RENTAL

Renting a breathing monitor does not require a prior reservation. If you give birth in one of the cooperating hospitals, you can rent a monitor before leaving the hospital. For rentals through one of the pharmacies, you only need to reserve the monitor by phone before the planned pickup.

3.
PICK UP THE DEVICE

On the agreed day at the agreed location.
A valid ID card is required to collect the device, for signing the Rental Agreement, and to confirm the payment of the contribution, which can be paid on-site in cash or via bank transfer.

4.
MONITOR THE END OF THE RENTAL

and the subsequent return of the device or the extension of the Rental Agreement for the additional necessary months.

Procedure for extending the rental

1.
CHECK THE WARRANTY PERIOD

If the end of your rental is approaching and you wish to continue using the breathing monitor, we offer the option to extend the rental. The rental can be extended by 3 or 6 months.

If you wish to extend your rental, please contact us first by phone at 0904 897 704 or by email at nadaciakrizovatka@gmail.com .

Please provide the serial number (SN) of the device, which can be found on the agreement or on the back of the monitoring unit (see photo), and specify the duration by which you wish to extend the rental.

2.
PAY THE CONTRIBUTION

According to the number of months for which you wish to extend the breathing monitor rental, make the payment of the contribution to our bank account.

Use the device’s serial number as the variable symbol. If the serial number contains more than 10 digits, please enter the last 10 characters (i.e., the 10 digits from the end—excluding “22” or “2N”).
In the payment note, include the first and last name under which the Rental Agreement was issued,
and the rental location (e.g., Na Piesku).
Pay the contribution to the bank account SK08090 0000 0005 1266 01664 (Slovenská sporiteľňa, a.s.).
